borrowed a friends’ garage and their handy quick jack to give the CR-V some new front brakes
this is the first real work I’ve done on the 2016 wife-mobile. Having been under warranty and service plans for some years, and more recently we’ve been taking it to a local family owned mechanic for regular maintenance. But it changed hands to a franchise, and a friend who was mechanic there said he was not happy with the new management. So here we are.
Before:
Just 3 minutes later, it’s an easy process to tear it down (after practicing on the driver’s side):
and complete, only 12.5 min for the pads and rotors done:
Then it was on to the real fun of the day. We replaced his S3's front grill for a blacked out mesh design. Still pending the coordinating side vents, and the replacement logo.
and pending delivery of the actual black pieces, I vinyl wrapped the chrome window trim in gloss black
then it was back to my own hovel of a garage to oil change on the TSX. I want a quick jack :S
but, I do love that I have a good floor jack now at least
why does the oil cap not allign!?
did the full dealer service, and reset the oil life. basically a professional now!
then, so all my cars got some love, I stripped a few parts of the Civic’s old engine so it would be ready for sale. Listed in on FB and CL and had a bite in less than an hour! he was all “I’ll be there right now! google maps says 1 hour! I have cash” so I agreed to meet him at 6pm.
...7pm... hello? 8pm... 9pm I pulled the engine back into the garage out of the rain. so lonely and unsold it is now

Nicely done on the maintenance! Always good to give a vehicle some love.
I hate blowoffs on FB. I had someone be all insistent they’d be there right away then didn’t show up or talk to me for like 6 hours and got all pissy when I sold it to someone else.

it has been in service for decades :D
I’ve borrowed it from a friend’s dad who has a garage with about a dozen classic cars.

it’s the front tow point. Which is a handy lift point if you want to leave the lift point free for putting a jack stand under.

The corner of the front subframe is substantial enough. I usually go in the middle because that’s just where I can fit the jack under but the frontmost subframe bar is fine.

I did think it was strange that they required me to wear a full tuxedo to come work in their garage.

That S3 looks so good with everything blacked out to contrast with the red.

This is the first time I’m hearing about quick jacks and after looking at their site, seems like a solid product but not a cheap solution either ($1200-$1600) depending on model.
It'd be great if we could get an oppo review.

they are certainly pricey, but nothing like the cost of a true lift , and certainly doesnt require any permanent installation and those associated costs.
As for use, you wrangle either side into place, align with the jack points, and use compressed air to raise.
Feels more stable than jack stands once it is in place.
I’d say easy to use, quality product, a vast improvement over jacks and jackstands, and a good compromised between getting a full installed lift.
If you have the money, and a little extra space to store them, and an existing compressed air supply, I’d say well worth it

Nice work! I will never understand buyers who do that shit! At this point I will not go out of my way for any buyer even one bit.

How was the window trim wrapping procedure? Did the trim come off the car to do the wrapping? I’ve got the vinyl to do the same to my 128i but haven’t really looked into how to do it.

took it off, which has its own hazards, we had to redo some after damaging in putting it on (the wrap, not the trim)
we did a piece on, tricky to get the edges
